I am so glad that the tiny portion of the stimulus bill that involved the arts passed. I read a section from the Coburn Amendment that reads “to ensure that taxpayer money is not lost on wasteful and non-stimulative projects such as funding museums, theaters and art centers” which actually makes me physically angry. Wasteful? Well maybe I am late on this game in that none of these art centers employ people, and if they do, those people probably don’t pay taxes or purchase things themselves. Yeah. Wasteful.
Actually, I shouldn’t be too mad because they saw the error of their ways and did pass it with that portion allotted for the arts included. Thinking happy thoughts now.
That *is* encouraging, isn’t it?!
